TWO TIME OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST KATARINA WITT’S SKATING SPECIAL: ALBERTO VO 5 DIVAS ON ICE WILL AIR JANUARY 6, 2001 ON NBC-TV Katarina Witt, has co-produced and performed in the second annual Alberto VO5 Divas on Ice, a one-time only show combining the beauty of figure skating with the spontaneous energy of live music. The creative theme of the show centers around a night out with the girls. “Katarina and her friends go out clubbing to an imaginary nightclub featuring the band Dave’s True Story, which is a backdrop for all of the musical and skating performances,” reports artistic director and choreographer Lea Ann Miller. The show, filmed on location at the HersheyPark Arena will air on NBC TV, Saturday, January 6, 2001 from 4-6pm Eastern Time. Joining Ms. Witt is an International cast of the most dazzling women in figure skating today including Ekatarina Gordeeva, Nancy Kerrigan, Surya Bonaly, Nicole Bobek, Denise Biellmann, Rosalynn Sumners, Caryn Kadavy and Yuka Sato. The skaters interpret live musical performances by R&B artist, Chante˘ Moore; award-winning country music performer Chely Wright and the avant-garde Manhattan lounge band, Dave’s True Story. This talented cast of skaters boast an amazing array of honors- Katarina Witt, (Germany) two-time Olympic Gold Medalist; Ekaterina Gordeeva, (Russia) 1994 and 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist; Nancy Kerrigan, (Massachusetts) 1994 Olympic Silver Medalist, 1993 US National Champion; Surya Bonaly, (France) Five-time European Champion, Three-time World Champion Silver Medalist; Nicole Bobek, (Sarasota, FL) 1995 US National Champion, World Champion Bronze Medalist; Denise Biellmann, (Switzerland)1998 World Professional Champion; Rosalynn Sumners, 1984 Olympic Silver Medalist, World Champion; Caryn Kadavy, (Pennsylvania) 1994 Hershey’s Kisses ProAm winner Yuka Sato, (Japan) 1994 World Amateur Champion, 1995 World Professional Champion. Imbedded in the program is a segment shot on location in a quaint Pennsylvania hair salon of the female skaters and Kelly Flint from Dave’s True Story getting their hair conditioned, treated and styled t a salon in preparation for the big night. The television show is being co-executive produced by Disson Furst and Partners and Katarina’s company, With Witt Sports & Entertainment.
